Strategic Business Leadership

Strategic Business Leadership® SBL --- SBL is a Five Step Process specifically designed for small to mid-size businesses. SBL enables an owner to develop a methodology for leading their business according to strategic planning that is aimed exclusively to privately owned businesses. It is very different than traditional strategic planning, which has proven to be ineffective with most privately owned businesses. The program is ideally suited to allow those using Strategic Business Leadership® to run their companies, to develop the plans and integrate the SBL process at his/her own pace. This includes completing 100 Word Statements™ that are developed from easy to use SBL exercises.
The SBL principles are depicted by the parts of a bicycle. The Front Wheel of the bicycle is composed of the Owner’s input. The process begins with the Owner providing a series of concise 100 Word Statements™. The Rear Wheel is the Planning Team (key employees) who thoroughly review and discuss the Owner’s 100 Word Statements™ in order to revise and reach final agreement and consensus on all the 100 Word Statements™. All key employees become part of the process and thus have “buy-in” to the strategic statements.

The SBL process includes:
A Look in the Mirror - Business Diagnostics Questionnaire followed by SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) combine to determine the Critical Success Factors and Strategic Driving Forces for your business.
Company Definition of Success – Company Vision – A picture of what your company would be like if your dream and passions take place.
Goals and Objectives – Establish Goals (first year) and Objectives (mid term of 2-3 years)
Grand Strategy – Develop detailed strategies to accomplish the highest impact First Year Goals (usually 5 or 6 items)

Making It Happen – Develop Action Plans to implement the Grand Strategies – Actions plans must meet criteria of being “SMART”

S - Specific M - Measurable A - Attainable R - Realistic T - Timeline

The SBL process may reinvent your company. The SBL process is never ending, as First-year Goals are accomplished, Mid-term Objectives are moved into their place. The company is thus “evergreen”, growing and continuing to improve and expand.
